I’ve been really busy with both work and school, so these music related post have been coming up when I have time (not always Friday). Sorry about that.
The images above were created using lyrics from Notorious B.I.G’s “Juicy” and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. Biggie’s picture was done using Baskerville Old Face see how that came together here. Bob Dylan’s portrait used the Garamond typeface. Check that one out here.
Such a cool concept. Reminds me of the typographic portrait I posted of The Beatles a year ago.
Artist and designer Paula Scher has recently released a book on her world renowned bold and colorful maps. Collected in one textbook for the first time, Paula Scher: MAPS presents thirty-nine of Scher’s obsessively detailed, highly personal creations.
The cover of the book unfolds into a lovely (you guessed it) map. I’ve attached a few images of the pages for your viewing pleasure.
If you’re unfamiliar with Paula and the genius behind her work certainly take a few minutes to watch the short video below. She tells the story on how her obsession of the maps began . It’s all really quite interesting.

The dynamic Brooklyn duo, The Stuyvesants, released their sophomore album “The Finer Things” (volumes 1 and 2) last week. The two volumes contain 20 tracks each and are full of hypnotic soulful instrumentals that are sure to have you nodding your head and moving with the beat.
It’s all I’ve been listening to over the last few days and while I love all every song, my absolute favorites so far are Ewww (LaLaLa) off of Vol. 1 and Y.E.S. off of Vol 2. Visit the site here to listen/download. If you’re new to the group certainly check out their first album “Brooklyn’s Finest” here.
We love showcasing great talent here on The AOC. If you think your work is a good fit, please drop us an email for consideration at amanda [@] theaudacityofcolor.com.
