12 Bicycle Drawings

I’ve been really busy making some changes in my personal life and since I’ve recently started a new bike workout routine I thought these drawings were quite fitting.

Christine Berrie created this collection among a series of drawings that visually document various objects that some people perceive as prosaic, but which actually give those who use them great joy and pleasure.  This is so true for me.  I really love my bike and there is nothing more relaxing to me than a bike ride around Brooklyn on a summer day.

Prints of 12 Bicycles are available here.  More of Christine’s work can be found here.

Music Inspiration: Colors of My Mind Mix

I had a rough Thursday night last week and didn’t get to post anything on Friday, but it was a blessing in disguise because I came across the coolest R&B mix today and am so excited to share.

Colors of My Mind is a music mix by Chicago based DJ Duane Powell.   I’m not even going to front, I don’t know any of the artists included, but the sounds are so mellow and smooth I think anyone with an appreciation for soul music would enjoy it.  Take a listen here.  Enjoy!

I Love Doodle Prints

Humorous prints from Etsy shop I Love Doodle.  The first one is titled Everyone Poops and the second is Peenut.  I’m still an 8-year old deep down because stuff like this still makes me giggle.  :)

Jessica Hische

There are so many male typographers and designers (a lot of who I feature here), so I was pleasantly surprised to come across the work of Jessica Hische.  Her portfolio has an amazing collection of lettering, illustrations and designs.  The images I pulled above are from a project she did for a day planner.  Really good stuff.

Check out the site here.

Brooklyn Summer

I took some time off last week to enjoy an extended Memorial Day weekend.  I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about the summer.  Brooklyn summers are full of random bbqs, block parties, rooftop events and beach trips. You never know what type of trouble you’ll get into. The last few weeks have been awesome. The video below has me entirely geeked at the prospect of all the fun in store. I also like it because I have a couple of cameos in there. Lol

Also, Darien Victor Birks of flwrpt has collaborated with another friend, Lemu, a new album out celebrating the sounds of a Brooklyn summer.  It’s a dope mix. Click the cover below to visit the site and listen/download.  Enjoy!

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2011

Reds and neutrals from the Spring 2011 collection from Rebecca Minkoff.  The outfit on the bottom left has such a cute 80’s feel.  I hope to not have to wear a jacket until September or November for that matter.  :)

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Nestle Easter Packages by Cako Martin

Nestle’s agency FutureBrand worked with Brazilian illustrator Cako Martin on these packages for their 2011 Easter campaign.

These are sooooooo pretty.  I swear I see such cool stuff out of Brazil and Spain.  Definitely need to visit these places to check out the art scene.

Designer/Illustrator: Jon Contino

Select designs for apparel company The Brooklyn Circus by Jon Contino.  Love the typography in these pieces.

The Brooklyn Circus website was recently redone by none other than the homie Allan Cole (Allan also designed this site).  Check it out here.

More awesomeness from Jon can be found in his extensive portfolio here.
