Friday Music Inspiration: Theophilus London – Lovers Holiday

I’ve been hearing about Brooklyn-born rapper Theophilus London for months now, but never really bothered to engage in his music until this past weekend.  I’m so happy that I did!

He’s got a really great pop sound and his flow kind of reminds me of Kid Cudi.  It’s such a refreshing change from the sounds of today’s hip-hop.  My favorite tracks from his recent EP Lovers Holiday are “Flying Overseas and “Why Even Try”.

Check out the video for “Flying Overseas” below and take a listen to tracks from the album and more on his Myspace page here.

Jen Stark Series: Space Inspired Drawings

The third and final installation of the Jen Stark series is themed around her space inspired drawings.  These are three separate images, but it’s kind of interesting how they play off of one another.  Like three pages of the same book.

Check out the rest of these here.

Colors and Patterns

I was playing around with different colors in the pattern below when I came up with the color scheme shown here.  I really like the way the mustard bordered triangles complement the mint and green background.

Now if I can find someone who can bring this to life in the form of a headscarf or mini-skirt I’d be golden.  :)

New Music: Flwrpt “The Green”

I had a really bad cold last week, so I didn’t post my any music content on Friday.  I’ve been excited to share this one with you all though.

The homie Darien Victor Birks of flwrpt has created a one of a kind mix that includes dope tracks such as Take Away by Wiz Khalifa, Back in the Day by Erykah Badu, Lodi Dodi by Snoop Dogg, and Sky’s the Limit by Notorious B.I.G..  The best part is that it’s entirely free!  Take a listen and download here.

Jen Stark Series: Colorful Videos

Part 2 of March’s Jen Stark series includes a couple of cool short videos (each under 1 minute).

Leave your worries behind as you travel down this road of color.

Also here’s a video with a view of the inside of a sculpture she created called “Tunnel Vision”. The kaleidoscope effects are pretty amazing. Enjoy!

The World is Full of….

This image not only resonated with me because it was gorgeous, but the message behind it hit home on a real deep level.

I’ve been having a lot of conversations with friends about our goals and the steps we’re taking to bridge the gap between where we are right now and where we want to be and it made be realize that we’ve got so much that’s yet to be explored.  It’s truly exciting.  Every day presents a new opportunity to be greater than we currently are and this positive approach keeps me motivated and moving forward each moment.  The world is full of infinite possibilities…
