My friends sent me an awesome article on how colors affect our purchase decisions. Apparently pink is romantic and feminine. It’s used to target women and young girls. This is true in the instance of the Versace fragrance ‘Bright Crystal’. Blue is associated with trust and security. The Ford logo and their motto of “Built Ford Tough” comes to mind here.
See more details on the meaning of each color as well as the full infographic here.
Friday’s Tupac portrait made me think of a LEGO exhibit that just wrapped up in Chelsea. Artist Nathan Sawaya was showcasing his work as part of an exhibition: RED. All items were made entirely out of LEGO.
Sorry for posting this after the fact. I meant to post it earlier this week but WordPress was acting strangely and I haven’t had the time to work out the kinks. Check out the video below to see some of the work.
Because all girls love things that are of glitter and gold.

“Doin’ It” is the second single from LL Cool J’s sixth album, Mr. Smith, and was released on February 20, 1996. It also featured rapper LeShaun, but she did not appear in the music video since she was pregnant at the time.
The video was directed by Hype Williams and was shot in Queens. I can see several scenes that are reflective of neighborhoods I frequented while growing up. Really nice use of color here. Hype Williams at his best.
This was my song back in the day. I remember droppin’ it like it was hot in my bedroom every time it came on. I loved me some LL. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!
Portrait of Tupac made entirely of Legos. This is honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

Spring is my favorite time of year and Gowanus in Brooklyn is a fun place to hang out. Nice work from Brooklyn-based illustrator/designer Lydia Nichols. I’m really into the turquoise used in both pieces. More from Lydia is available here.
Patterns and bright pops of color from the Manish Arora Spring Ready-to-Wear 2011 collection. Manish designed Kerry Washington’s dresses in Monday’s post.
Photographs of the late Michael Jackson by French photographer/director Arno Bani. They were taken for as artwork for his next album and were recently released to the press. The work will be auctioned off in Paris on December 13th.
These pictures resonate with me since I was watching The Wiz with some friends this past weekend. It’s really crazy to see the evolution of MJ. You can’t deny how cool these images are though. I especially like the “Sphinx” one shown in the center.
