Fierce animal prints from Jeffrey Campbell. I will be dreaming about those platform wedges in the top right for next several weeks.

Pretty patterned bracelets from Thief & Bandit. I think these would look great if you layered a bunch of them together. See more here.
Yes these designs ARE sexy.
More amazing set designs by Nicola Yeoman. She worked on the Blueprint 3 album cover mentioned last week.
Jay-Z launched a new website this week to promote his forthcoming greatest hits LP, The Hits Collection, which is due in stores on November 22.
This got me thinking back to The Blueprint 3 and it’s cool album cover. One would think that the image was created using standard photo editing, but it’s actually a real set designed by London-based artist, Nicola Yeoman.
Take a look to see how it all came together. FYI – The color is added around the 2:15 mark.
Also make sure you check out the new website here. It gives details on past albums, lists some of Jay’s greatest accomplishments and has user interactive functionality (those who have Twitter accounts are able to send messages and engage in conversation about the album). Good stuff.
It’s that time of year again when the season changes and I spend a great deal of time surfing the web looking at things that I really don’t need or are way out of my budget range. This was the case when I put together this post of the current Anthropologie items that are on my wish list.
I’m especially captivated by that floral cardigan. I’m so into anything with golden hues these days.

I usually like to keep any music related visuals I find to run on Friday when I feature my Friday Video, but I couldn’t get this image out of my mind. This was taken by Jonathan Mannion for The Fader.
I love all things Mos Def. From his films, 16 Blocks and Be Kind Rewind, to his records, “Definition” and “Respiration”. I think he’s one of the most understated artists out there. This is a great shot. I’m diggin’ the way the colors in his wardrobe were inspired by the street art.
My love of style, music and art are all captured here. So dope.

AOC: Where are you from?
Stephanie: I grew up in Seattle, but I’ve called Brooklyn home for the past 3 years.
AOC: What do you do?
Stephanie: Right now I mostly paint, illustrate and collage. I like being able to work with my hands and use tangible materials.
AOC: How does color inspire you?
Stephanie: I’ve always been fascinated and inspired by nature and the way that natural design utilizes color: as a warning, as a mating call, to signal a change in season. I think that there’s an element of storytelling woven into my work, so I use color as a way to highlight certain details and draw the viewer into that story. I also love the fact that color is so subjective, what’s red to one person may be orange to someone else.
AOC: If there was one color used to describe you, what would it be and why?
Stephanie: Gold, because it has deep roots and has lived many lives.
AOC: What’s the last good book you read?
Stephanie: I recently finished The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, which was great – moving & excellently written. I still have a thing for children’s stories though, like Faith Ringgold’s Tar Beach. The quilt-like illustrations in that book are amazing.
AOC: What’s currently playing on your iPod?
Stephanie: Erykah Badu, Hall & Oates, The Stuyvesants, Jodeci, Nina Simone, Quadron, Flying Lotus and the soundtrack to Michel Gondry’s The Science of Sleep.
AOC: Where can we find you?
Stephanie: You can check out more of my work on ColorfulRambunction.com.
I’m so happy to have Stephanie with us today. Not only is she an amazing visual artist, but she’s also a very good friend of mine. Thanks Steph!

A monkey made out of flip-flops in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is one of the most awesome things I’ve ever seen. More pics here.
