I can’t believe Dr. Martens are back in style. I remember when my older sis got her first pair. I would enviously watch her as she got ready for school, strutting around in her fancy pair of maroon kicks. At that time I foolishly opted for Timberlands and my mom wasn’t trying to hear it when I changed my mind. Well my time has come and I’m going to pick up a pair or two for sure!
They’re available in fun colors and are the perfect accessory to be worn with a cute dress or with your favorite pair of tights and sweater. Love it.
More great varieties in different colors and patterns available on the Dr. Marten site here.
Einstein really was a genius. I absolutely love this quote and the typography is super cool.

Rihanna debuted her “Only Girl (In the World)” video this past Wednesday night on MTV, right before “The Buried Life”. The video was directed by longtime collaborator Anthony Mandler and is the first single on her upcoming album, Loud.
I’ve got one word here – RED.
This is such a pretty video.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Our favorite rock star, Lenny Kravitz, has collaborated on a line of wallpaper designs with Flavor Paper. The Tropicalismo collection was inspired by the graphic influences of the late 1960’s Brazilian Tropicalia movement, fusing bold patterns, pop colors, and utopian rhythms in art, music, and design.
For most of us it’ll be the closest thing we get to having Lenny Kravitz in our homes.

Logo restyling by designer Alberto Antoniazzi. I love the play on the Apple logo. I sometimes forget that the old one was so colorful.

AOC: Where are you from?
James: I grew up in Stockton, California, but I currently reside in Brooklyn, New York.
AOC: What do you do?
James: I’m a creative force of nature.
AOC: How does color inspire you?
James: Color gives me energy. My purpose for painting is to capture this energy. I think in color. It’s like N.E.R.D.’s album Seeing Sounds. I see in color.
AOC: If there was one color used to describe you, what would it be and why?
James: Blue to represent water. Lately I’ve been going with the flow.
AOC: Where can we find you?
James: My portfolio and blog are available at www.creativeshields.com. You can also keep up with my updates on twitter.com/creativeshields.

“Got ’til It’s Gone“ appears on Janet Jackson’s sixth studio album, The Velvet Rope. It was released as an international single and received radio airplay in the United States, but was not released as a commercial single. Rapper Q-Tip and Canadian singer Joni Mitchell make guest appearances on the track.
The video was directed by Mark Romanek and staged as a party taking place during apartheid in South Africa. It takes inspiration from a mix of ’60s and ’70s African and African American cultures, depicting people dancing freely and having a good time living life.
I love the use of earth tones here. Janet’s face looks so natural and fresh and the people in the video are truly gorgeous.
It’s so true that you never seem to appreciate what you have until it’s no longer there. It’s important to savor every moment since you don’t know if it’ll be the last.
I’ll be taking Monday off to enjoy the long holiday weekend. Not sure why Columbus Day is even a holiday considering the fact that you can’t “discover” a country that’s already occupied, BUT I’m not even going to go there. lol
Have a fantastic weekend!
