FriendsWithYou created a massive art piece covering the façade of the Fubon Financial building in Taipei, Taiwan. The idea behind the project was to inspire those passing by to look up at the smiling cloud to rediscover the beauty of life.
A friend of mine put me on to Melody Ehsani’s jewelry and since then I’ve been seeing references to her all over the web. It seems that she’s very popular with fashionable celebrities like Rihanna, Keri Hilson and Ciara.
I love that black and gold necklace on the bottom left. Along with accessories, she also designs a series of really cool and funky shoes.
All of these and more can be found on Melody’s site here.
Thanks Lin!
Accessories: Kaleido Necklace, Matrix Earrings, Black Metal Color Kit, Mama Earrings
World of Color premiered on June 11 at Disney California Adventure (DCA), the theme park adjacent to the original Disneyland. The 25 minute nighttime show has more than 1200 fountains and includes lasers, lights, and fire with high-definition projections on mist screens.
Much-loved movie scenes play on-screen, while the face of Mickey, emblazoned on a massive Ferris wheel, beams through the smoke and vapor. Scenes include the Little Mermaid and Sebastian dancing under the sea, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine on a watery magic carpet, Pocahontas riding the rapids in a canoe and Bambi frolicking through the forest.
I’ve included a video of some highlights for your viewing pleasure. So pretty!
I came across Brooklyn-based illustrator, Koren Shadmi, the other day. He has created work for The Village Voice, Revolver, BusinessWeek, Spin and several other publications.

I really like his use of color and the detail in his work. Korem also has a series of prints that are available for sale on his website.

Rihanna’s Rude Boy video premiered on February 10, 2010 on VEVO. It was directed by Melina Matsoukas and entirely shot in front of a green screen. The video is animated and colorful and features Rihanna doing a series of popular Jamaican dancehall moves such as the Butterfly and the Bogle.
This is definitely one of my favorites. I’ve attached a few stills of some of the cool scenes here.
Certain elements of the video remind me of Keith Haring’s work. More on that next week.
I saw this great T-shirt on Karmaloop the other day and had to share. I like the imagery and dig that the proceeds are going to help the cause.
Based on the work of photographer Tao Ruspoll, Studio Number One’s Cleon Peterson and Casey Rider worked with Obey’s Shepard Fairey to create the iconic image for The Haiti Tee.
The profits generated from the sale of The Haiti Tee go directly to the relief effort led by OBEY AWARENESS and Artists for Peace and Justice. To learn more, visit www.artistsforpeaceandjustice.com.
I’ve been a bit stressed out at work over the last couple of weeks, but I got through a day of major meetings yesterday and wanted to reward myself with flowers. Since I didn’t have time to pick any up for the apartment last night, I figured why not do a quick post on them!
Illustrations by graphic artist, Mark Ward. Home Sweet Home a.k.a. California Dreamin’ made me think of my buddy, Shawn, who recently moved to California on business. I’ll miss you, Shawn!
