Hip-hop portraits by illustrator Akiko Stehrenberger. She’s also done spot illustrations for publications such as SPIN, The Source, New York Press, Filter, XXL, and more.
The above images of Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and N.E.R.D. almost look like caricatures of these artists. Kinda funny.
Have a great weekend!
I’m a huge fan of cool earrings (especially studs – see past post on some of my collection here), so when I discovered the Etsy shop Ditty Drops I was in heaven. They’ve got a great assortment of handmade geometric jewelry in a variety of colors. What’s also cool is that owner Meredith Schwab is constantly updating the inventory so that every time you visit there’s a chance you’ll see something new.
The ones shown above range from $8 to $12. At this low cost I’m definitely ordering a few of them. See more of the collection here.
I meant to share this on Friday. Check out Erykah Badu’s interview at MADE as part of the series they call Visions of Visionaries.
She answers questions on how art manifests itself into her life, her song writing process and her beliefs. My favorite part of the video is when she speaks of creativity and says that “creativity is the absence of fear”. True words.
Rolling Stone cover, Chris Brown and Daft Punk images by Archan Nair. I can’t get enough of this guy.
I didn’t mention this in the last post, but he’s also creates music. Listen to a few of this mixes here.
Breathtaking images from Indian visual artist, illustrator and art director Archan Nair. He specializes in mixed media, illustration, and digital art and has worked with companies such as Canon, Nike, Tiger Beer and Sony.
Love his world of color. Check out his extensive portfolio here.
I hope everyone on the east coast fared well during this past weekend’s storm. Thankfully most of us are ok in NY minus a few floods and power outages.
As promised I’m giving away a few of the funky colorful items from Strange Talk’s new “Climbing Walls” video.
I’m sharing 3 items with you today – a gold iPod Nano with Multi-touch screen, a pair of pink tights (one size fits all), a couple of pairs of tube socks from the video and I’m throwing in a sample of Cheer laundry detergent.
If you’re like me and already have an iPhone or iPod without much use for a Nano check out these ideas of iPod watches here. They’re actually kinda cool.
To enter you need to do it leave a comment detailing your favorite part of the Strange Talk “Climbing Walls” video. This can be anything at all. No need to go crazy trying to think of something. The giveaway is open to US and Canada residents only (sorry international readers shipping can be costly) and the winner will be selected using random.org.
This ends on Tuesday 9/13 at 11pm EST. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 9/14. Good luck!
Cute Janelle Monae tote from QuellyRue Designs.
Janelle is supposed to perform this Sunday at Brooklyn’s Afro-punk festival along with Cee Lo Green and several other artists, but with hurricane’s in the forecast it’s hard to tell how things will turn out. Hope everyone on the east coast stays safe this weekend.
Side note: I didn’t get around to taking the pics of the items for Part 2 of the Cheer Strange Talk “Climbing Walls” giveaway (hectic week), but I’ll put that together this weekend and share on Monday. In the interim, feel free to go check out the video yourself. Items are given away daily here. XO!
