Friday Video: Kanye West – Power

Kanye West premiered his “Power” video on MTV last night.  Directed by Marco Brambilla, the 90-second video has been described as a work of art.  It contains digital imagery opening with Kanye staring straight ahead and then the camera panning out to reveal several women, saints and sinners, surrounding him.  There are several religious references as well as strong sexual overtones.

Check out a couple of the stills.

Here’s the entire video.

I love this, but at only 90 seconds it leaves you wanting more.  I’m sure that’s precisely the purpose.  This album is going to be pure fire.

Have a great weekend!!

Kanye Illustration

Since I’m talking about my slight obsession with Kanye West today, I thought I’d share this great illustration I saw on Fly a couple of weeks ago.

The portrait was done by Australian artist, Craig Redman.

Kanye West Teaser

Lord knows I love all things Kanye,  so when I got an email talking about his new video “Power” I almost fell out.  This video will premiere on MTV tonight after Jersey Shore.  Check out a behind the scenes look.

I’m going to be out at a concert tonight, but that’s why God gave us DVR.  I can’t wait to see this!

Street Art Inspired by Jack Nicholson

I was riding my bike around Red Hook, Brooklyn this weekend and saw these amazing murals inspired by Jack Nicholson’s roles in The Shining and as the Joker in Batman (1989).

Awesome.

NaKIMuli Leggings

Fashion designer, NaKIMuli, announced the release of her Resort 2010 collection on her Tumblr blog last week.  The dresses are cute, but when I visited her online store I was blown away by the leggings being offered.  These colorful prints provide a great way to get some pop in your wardrobe while transitioning into the fall.

I’m torn between the Electric two tone ones at the top right and the Giraffe print on the bottom right.  To see more of NaKIMuli’s designs, check out her store here.

Friday Video: M.I.A. – Boyz

M.I.A.’s Boyz video was directed by Jason “Jay Will” Williams and shot in Jamaica in late April 2007.  The video features M.I.A. singing and dancing within vibrant, neon colors and animated graphics, accompanied by several male dancers of different dance crews in Jamaica.

Last week’s Rihanna post made me think of this.  It’s another video where I can see Keith Harig’s influences.  This week has been crazy, but I do want to do a little write-up on him next week or so.   Check out a couple of the video’s cool stills.

The entire video is here.

How can you not dance to this song?  Enjoy and have a great weekend!
